I could never pass up the chance to buy books on sale. It's such an addiction! Especially when you see Gaiman books sold at 20% off!!!

NBS had these 3 books for young adults in stock, happiness!

Coraline, which is rumored to be released as an animated movie in 2009 starring the voice of Dakota Fanning. It's a dark story of a girl who enters a mysterious doorway to another similar but eerie world.

Interworld is the story of Joey, who gets lost in his own house and into another dimension, where he finds himself in between the battling armies of Magic and Science.

M is for Magic is a collection of tales and childhood stories gone awry. Here we find the sister of Humpty Dumpty hiring a detective to investigate the untimely death of her brother. Expect the unexpected.

I can't wait to dive into the surreal worlds that Gaiman has conjured in these books.

Good Omens

At last, Jonas and Bebs returned my book.

I'm such a slow reader. I bought this book in October last year, but I'm still on chapter 3. So far 5 people have borrowed and read it since then.

I am a huge fan of Neil Gaiman, ever since I first read his famous comic novel, The Sandman. I've been collecting his books ever since. He naturally blurs the lines between fantasy, literature, mythology, dreams and reality, and the way he weaves words into imaginative stories have always fascinated me. Though most of his work seems have some dark Tim Burton-ish overtones, amazingly this novel does not.

You can easily tell you're reading a Gaiman book just by knowing the characters and the cultural references to mythology, biblical icons and rock and roll. But Pratchett's humor jumps out of the pages as well.

Chapter 3 palang yan hah! Hehe!

There is a distinct hint of Armageddon in the air.

According to "The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch" (recorded, thankfully, in 1655, "before" she blew up her entire village and all its inhabitants, who had gathered to watch her burn), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact.

Auntie Mame

What a find!

Saw this book lying underneath old copies of Anne Rice and Maeve Binchy at Booksale in Ever Gotesco yday. It was in good condition, with a minor fold on the left side of the front cover. Bought it for P90 bucks!

I just love this book!

We never really know what wonderful treasures are lurking underneath our noses, we just have to stop for a minute and take a look!
